reBORN

My submission to the Tomb Raider competition. I really enjoyed playing this game, and thus, I am so happy this competition came out. There are a ton of the submissions being entered into this contest that look so good, and there are so many great paintings/drawings of everyone's take on Lara Croft! It's awesome!

In my work, I wanted to illustrate what I thought was one of the most powerful part of the game: the moments in between all the crisis and action sequences. I thought the telling of Lara's loss of innocence and codependence were told in a fantastic fashion, and I wanted to convey that in my work. I think all the action is part of what makes a Tomb Raider game; but, I believe "Reborn" was more about Lara coming to terms with the fact that she is a "Croft" and has what it takes to push on. Over time in the story, her fears and doubts wash away, allowing her to survive all the odds.

EDIT: I went ahead and did my final touches to my painting, now that the contest is over. And I am going to call it "done" at this point. Thanks to everyone for their love and support!
